I am the owner and founder of Compassion Centered Counseling and am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas. I have worked in a private practice setting since 2009 with many wonderful individuals and couples. My areas of expertise are primarily in work with clients struggling with trauma, PTSD, and complex trauma, anxiety, stress, marital/relationships, pre-marital, parenting, blended families, life transitions, depression, grief/loss, bipolar disorder, anger and women’s issues. I also enjoy helping clients who are interested in addressing their issues through the lens of their spirituality.
Professional Development: It is extremely satisfying for me to be a lifelong learner. The field of psychology is rapidly changing with new developments in research and education. As a result, I regularly attend seminars on a variety of mental health and psychology topics such as the treatment of anxiety, trauma, couples counseling, relationships, parenting, mindfulness, EMDR, attachment and the neurobiology of psychotherapy.
I became certified with the Couples Institute and The Developmental Model of Couples Therapy in order to help couples resolve issues and create strong, loving relationships. Additionally, I am certified from the University of Texas Arlington/School of Social Work in Trauma and Abuse.
I am a certified therapist in EMDR and a member of EMDRIA since August 2018. (For more information about EMDR, please refer above to “About EMDR” under the Services tab). This training through EMDRIA has contributed to my continued professional growth in the field. That all said, in spite of all of the continuing education, life is the best teacher. I learn from the interactions with my clients and experiencing their transformations in our counseling relationship. I also attribute much of my knowledge about the ups and downs of life to the lessons I have learned in my own challenges and in raising my three children. I have learned that life always presents challenges and the ability to move through those difficulties with a strong sense of self is important.
