At Compassion Centered Counseling, We specialize in providing treatment for anxiety.
Do you experience fatigue, irritability, and headaches? Do you struggle to fall or stay asleep because of emotional turmoil? Are you having difficulty concentrating? Do you experience nervousness when confronted with choices and find it very difficult to arrive at a satisfying decision? Do you worry excessively? Do you experience times of panic? Are you easily startled?
While we all face challenges and stress in life, those issues seem magnified when experiencing them through the lens of unnecessary worry and fear. We can help you find ease in the midst of everyday struggles and to manage seemingly random bouts of panic.
When you reclaim a state of balance and ease, you also gain more power in overcoming difficulties. We work with my clients to identify and address the source of their issue and develop the right anxiety treatment. We help clients to develop a perspective that allows them to approach burdening situations with the confidence they need to overcome the issue. We teach you to recognize triggers, help you to experience the change that is necessary through effective therapy, and then encourage you to feel empowered to manage stress and anxiety.
“We are worried that going to counseling makes me look weak”
It takes courage to face your challenges. When you are working at overcoming worry and fear, it is important to begin exploring the options for anxiety counseling by taking this first step. The only people who need to know you are seeking help are you and your therapist. We believe that seeking help is a sign of strength in recognizing that you are ready to make changes in your life.
What is the best anxiety treatment?
Although there are many approaches to treating anxiety, my approach is collaborative and involves integrating EMDR therapy with other modes of therapy. We work to build trust quickly and believe that building a strong therapeutic relationship is an essential key to healing. We help our clients to discover their strengths, and tap into those strengths, so that they improve the foundation and resilience needed for managing challenging times.
What is EMDR?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy used to help clients resolve anxiety and traumatic memories in a way that is often more effective than traditional talk therapy.
Sometimes experiences we have early in our lives impact the way we feel and react to situations much later in life. We may not even remember those experiences, nor do we necessarily need to.
Our approach to anxiety treatment often incorporates coping skills or therapy such as EMDR to facilitate more adaptive responses to outside cues that can trigger anxiety, panic, feelings of fear and worry. This form of therapy can be remarkable at helping clients to notice a significant change in feelings that have seemed pervasive and long standing.

What is unique about working with you?
We approach our clients’ concerns with an open mind and consider all resources that are available to address each person’s situation. We understand that no two clients’ situations are the same and seek to discover the unique challenges each client faces.
Can’t we just take medication or a supplement? Do we really need counseling for anxiety?
While prescriptions and supplements can sometimes help manage anxiety, they alone are not a permanent solution to the problem. Medication and supplements may help with the biological and physical side effects of anxiety and depression, but mental aspects of the problem may still exist. Counseling treatment helps to impact a more fundamental change in these feelings.
