About Me
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate in the state of Texas, with a master’s degree in clinical Mental Health Counseling from Tarleton State University. My clinical training includes a year-long internship at a nonprofit agency in Fort Worth, where I had the opportunity to support children, adolescents, and adults navigating a wide range of emotional and behavioral challenges. Before entering the counseling field, I spent six years as a special education teacher in a local school district. That experience shaped my deep respect for the unique ways individuals grow, learn, and connect—and sparked my desire to support people more fully in their emotional and relational lives. I am passionate about helping clients live meaningful, empowered lives while managing concerns such as Autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma, behavioral issues, stress, and sleep difficulties. I enjoy working with children ages 3–12 through play-based and developmentally appropriate interventions, supporting teens ages 13–18 as they navigate identity and emotional growth, and helping adults of all ages move through life transitions with clarity and resilience.
Working with Children, Teens, and Adults
I strive to create a safe and compassionate environment where each client, whether a young child, teenager, or adult—can feel seen, understood, and supported. With younger children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy to help them express emotions, build confidence, and improve relationships with caregivers. For adolescents, I provide a space to explore identity, develop coping skills, and manage the emotional complexity of this important developmental stage.
With adults, I bring a thoughtful, respectful, and collaborative approach to therapy, focusing on the client’s goals, strengths, and values. Whether someone is working through trauma, navigating parenting, or building a healthier relationship with themselves and others, I honor the courage it takes to seek support and step toward growth.
Professional Development
My interest in counseling began while I was still teaching, as I experienced my own personal growth through therapy. I became fascinated with the ways shame, attachment, and trauma impact our emotional lives and relationships—and how healing is possible through insight, connection, and care. I have pursued advanced training in Child-Centered Play Therapy and Child-Parent Relationship Therapy, as well as certifications in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI). I continue to deepen my clinical skills through ongoing education in trauma, neuroscience, and attachment-based approaches.
Personal Background
I was born in a small rural town in Texas and have spent most of my adult life in the Fort Worth area. I come from a large, blended family and now have the joy of raising two school-aged children who continue to teach me about resilience, curiosity, and unconditional love. My faith and spirituality are central to my life—I was raised in Christianity and now observe Judaism. While English is my primary language, I enjoy expanding my understanding of Hebrew and Spanish.
In both my personal and professional journey, I’ve experienced and walked alongside others through challenges such as codependency, domestic violence, infertility, religious trauma, and the unique stressors faced by first responders. These experiences have shaped my worldview, deepened my empathy, and strengthened my commitment to holding space for people navigating complex emotional and relational landscapes. I value connection, diverse perspectives, and the power of shared experience. I believe healing begins when we are truly seen—without judgment—and when our unique stories are met with respect, compassion, and care.
What I Love About This Work
It’s a privilege to walk alongside people as they do the brave work of healing and growing. I deeply value creating space for honest reflection, emotional safety, and new possibilities. I’m continually inspired by the strength and vulnerability I see in my clients—and I believe that the desire and ability to grow already exists within each person. I’m especially drawn to the balance of opposites that counseling often invites us to hold: freedom with responsibility, kindness with strength, facts with intuition. Every voice matters. Every story matters. And every person is inherently valuable.
